Many problems but okay-ish.
Crzy · 8/25/2026Vortex is your average sandbox... Just with and without many features and also highly suspected of being vibe-coded. Mostly gained popularity via Sketch's shoutout (which wasn't deserved imo) and the devlogs.
Pros
- Good game UI
- Works on Wine almost flawlessly
- Studio + Client are both downloadable
- You can play games...?
- You can... jump??? (i truly cannot think of any more pros)
Cons
- Website navigation is weird
- Shadows are pretty buggy sometimes
- Lens flare is annoying.
- No currency (as of this review)
- Cannot share games
- Giant AI controversy
- No scripting (as of this review)
- Entire community hates Linux, meaning likely no Linux support for an indefinite amount of time
- Many, many under 13 users in the Discord.

I joined before the Sketch shoutout, near like devlog 3 or something.
I have not used Studio yet.

Vibecoded childrens' playground
@Ata · 7/28/2026Has a solid client and a huge user base, but that's it for the positives. Vortex also happens to have the most toxic community out of all mainstream UGCs, and the majority of its user base is composed of literal children. There is also no Linux support, no currency, trading nor public studio, and the entire platform is vibecoded.

I played it a lot in the earlier days when it was browser-based, but now its an app and I can't use it since there is no Linux support

"feels" vibe coded
@CowCow · 8/13/2026the site looks vibe coded also they broke gdpr by not allowing you to delete your account and they forgot to remove the blank parts in their chatgpt tos
edit as of 13.08.26: they somehow broke the gdrp again by training an ai of users messages without disclosing it in their privacy policy they recently updated it tho but i am pretty sure they have already trained the ai on our messages before that but without having permission

Yea so honestly people who are hating obviously never played Vortex. It is honestly a very friendly and inviting platform for all users who search an experience like no other. The staff and moderators they're a little strict but fair and they always make sure so you get the best experience while playing.
Owner is a very friendly and active guy and he has made this platform with his own hands. If you dont like playing casual games why not build them in the recently added studio... so yeah, even people who prefer building instead of playing will have a great time. Platform is well optimized, I wouldn't say perfect but the owner is working on that.

Personal experience
I have been using this platform from early May 2026 and yea, im not even glazing it when I say it set high standards for other platforms of this type. One time I was even in owner's friend list. And yeah basically try on your own before typing any hates about this because the owner didn't make this platform using AI or any stuff like that you dumbheads.
